(July 2023)
The Eastern Seaboard Region is hard at work creating a full lineup of monthly PD events on a variety of topics that will provide something for everyone regardless of content area/interest. Our councils and committees will be working alongside our cabinet leaders to pull together some useful resources that will be shared out during the various PD events. The ESR Leadership team will be coming together on August 9-11 in CT for a Leadership Development Conference where they themselves will receive some much-deserved leadership development but will also spend time working to finalize the Eastern Seaboard’s yearly activities/opportunities for our members.
A “Save the Date” flyer will be coming your way mid-late August with dates and important information on all that will be happening including dates for the “All Eastern Seaboard Regional Member Forums” an opportunity for us to come together as a region, for updates, sharing of ideas, collaboration, and networking. We hope you will join us as we welcome and value your input and ideas so that we may continue to grow and flourish as a membership/region. Be sure to also check out our social media platform for information on what’s happening in the ESR and/or the Academy.
Be on the lookout for our updated 2023-2024 Action Plan that outlines all that the Eastern Seaboard Region hopes to offer in the upcoming year. Enjoy the remaining summer days. Have fun, stay cool, and be safe!
The Southern Tier Region had a successful Leadership Development Conference, LDC, July 17 & 18 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There were more than 50 attendees representing 11 states within the Region. Louisiana Kinesiology, PETE, and HETE department heads were invited to hold a summer retreat during the LDC which provided opportunities for them to discuss concerns and initiatives relative to their colleges and universities. Thank you LAHPERD for providing transportation to and from the airport for our attendees, arranging a fabulous dinner at a local restaurant and for your warm, southern hospitality! We look forward to returning to Baton Rouge for the national Summit in April 2024.
Katherine Pebworth and her team are preparing for the Future Professional LDC to be held in Johnson City, Tennessee September 21-23. Each of the Southern Tier Region states are invited to send two future professionals. The Region will pick up expenses for room and board and the cost of all activities. The states only need to pay for transportation to and from Johnson City. Contact Katherine for more information.
Wishing everyone a great start to a new school year,
Hollie
